Michael Doman focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation. Michael’s experience spans all phases of litigation, including drafting pleadings, taking and defending depositions, drafting dispositive motions, and trial. Recently Michael submitted briefing and argued before a panel of the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Michael was a law clerk to Judge Britt C. Grant, United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, from 2022 to 2023.
Michael speaks fluent Portuguese and intermediate Spanish.
Legal Malpractice Defense
Representing Respondent, a top international, AmLaw 100 law firm, in a confidential arbitration in which Claimants seek more than $100 million. Michael took the deposition of a senior executive of a Fortune 500 company, has helped defend multiple depositions, and has drafted numerous filings.
Argument Before the Eleventh Circuit
Michael drafted a full brief and argued before a panel on the Eleventh Circuit as part of an appointment by the Eleventh Circuit. The matter concerned the interpretation of various federal and state statutes in light of recent Supreme Court and Eleventh Circuit precedent.
Confidential International Oil & Gas Arbitration
Representing the Respondent in a confidential international arbitration regarding breach of contract related to Winter Storm Uri transactions. The Claimant seeks more than $450 million. Among many contributions, Michael has drafted portions of major case briefing and helped prepare and present Respondents’ major expert witness.
In re: Strudel Holdings LLC and AVR AH, LLC
Represented family office in adversarial proceeding stemming from sale of real property assets worth over $40 million in bankruptcy court in the Southern District of Texas. Michael drafted numerous motions—including a successful motion to reconsider—and participated in an expedited three-week discovery process and evidentiary hearing.
