Connor was a law clerk to Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod, United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, from 2022 to 2023.
Northwind Midstream Partners LLC v. Saulsbury Industries, Inc.
Represented property owner in dispute with contractor arising out of construction of gas treatment plant in New Mexico. Connor was a lead brief writer in the firm’s successful opposition of the defendant contractor’s plea to the jurisdiction and motion to dismiss. Following that favorable ruling, the matter settled on confidential terms.
Breach of Fiduciary Duty Defense
Represented former officer of oil and gas company that was undergoing bankruptcy proceedings in defense against allegations of breach of fiduciary duty. Obtained favorable settlement with two separate actual/threatened plaintiffs.
Favorable Settlement in Will Contest
Represented a private charitable foundation in a will contest alleging lack of capacity, undue influence, forgery, and other claims. Achieved a settlement for approximately 5% of the value of the estate, ensuring that the vast majority of funds will go to children’s cancer research and other charitable causes.
Pro Bono Matters
Represents an incarcerated individual in a civil rights lawsuit against certain correctional officers for use of excessive force. Obtained a favorable, confidential settlement.
Represents the youngest woman on Texas’s death row in her direct appeal to the Court of Criminal Appeals.
Through the firm’s partnership with Houston Volunteer Lawyers, Connor has also successfully represented a veteran seeking expunction of four misdemeanor charges and has participated in in the Houston Bar Association’s “LegalLine Clinic” to aid individuals seeking pro bono civil legal help.
