Representative Matters

Oil and Gas Jury Trial
Represented an oilfield services company in a contract dispute that culminated in a four-week jury trial in Harris County, Texas.  Caitlyn was a key member of the trial team from day one, leading discovery, defending and taking multiple depositions, drafting numerous briefs, and preparing the case for trial.  During trial, Caitlyn presented a key witness over three days and cross examined another.

Tanos Exploration II, LLC v. PetroTech Solutions, LLC, et al.
Represented well operator Tanos Exploration II, LLC in a suit against its chemical supplier, PetroTech Solutions, LLC, in Harrison County, Texas for products liability, breach of contract, and breach of warranty.  The suit related to a blowout of one of Tanos’s wells in East Texas.  Investigation of the blowout revealed the extreme corrosivity of the chemicals PetroTech had injected into that well, along with 28 other wells.  Tanos spent approximately $15 million testing and repairing all 29 wells.  In addition to actual damages, Tanos alleged exemplary damages against PetroTech, and months before trial, the Court found that Tanos had “demonstrated a substantial likelihood of success on the merits of a claim for exemplary damages.”  Upon joining the trial team in early 2022, Caitlyn defended and took expert depositions, assisted in drafting numerous filings, and was actively involved in trial preparation.  On the eve of trial in February 2023, this matter settled very favorably for Tanos on confidential terms.
