Lawdragon’s 2025 “500 Leading Lawyers in America” highlights seven Gibbs & Bruns partners on its annual elite list:

Kathy Patrick

Andi Gulley
Sam Cruse
Brian Ross

Ashley Kleber

These remarkable lawyers include New York dealmakers who craft billion-dollar behemoths, Texas energy gurus who help leaders in oil and gas expand their reach, Los Angeles plaintiff lawyers who battle for decades to achieve justice for victims of long-denied sexual abuse, and Washington, D.C., insiders who navigate the ins and outs of antitrust combinations.

This is the 20th edition of this, our flagship guide. Thank you for the honor of getting to know so many of you and for giving us a chance. We are fiercely proud of this guide, the lawyers on it, the process that creates it and what it means: that being a great lawyer, a powerful lawyer is not just a plaque on the wall. It is an act of courage to never give up on behalf of a client, a firm, and this notion of justice that can seem as divergent as unifying.

We create our ode to the greatest lawyers in the greatest legal system in the world through an obsession with great lawyers that lasts all year long. That’s how obsessions go …. We follow lawyers and firms as they emerge, track their successes and less-thans, lurk and watch and jump up and down as young lawyers find their path and soar. We accept nominations and thank you for a record number of them this year. We parse those with our own research, vet with peers and competitors, concatenate this knowledge in a competitive environment and create a list we hope you find useful and enjoy.

The Lawdragon 500 is a celebration of lawyering and those whose art is its craft.

This guide is 42 percent female and 29 percent inclusive. New York continues to lead the way but Texas has emerged as our second leading state, followed by California.
