PRO BONO CONTRIBUTIONS EARN GIBBS & BRUNS PRESTIGIOUS HARRIS COUNTY BENCH BAR AWARD

HOUSTON, May 10, 2010 – Gibbs & Bruns LLP received the prestigious 2009 Harris County Bench Bar Pro Bono Award in the mid-size firm category at the second annual Harris County Bench Bar Pro Bono Award ceremony today.  The Houston Bar Association and the Harris County judiciary established the award program to recognize outstanding pro bono service by law firms, corporations and individual attorneys.

“We are extremely honored to be recognized by the Harris County judiciary and the HBA for our firm’s pro bono contributions,” said Gibbs & Bruns Pro Bono Coordinator, Aundrea “Andi” Frieden.  “We recognize the value of serving the community and providing equal access to justice to the citizens of Harris County, and we hope to inspire others in the process.”

Gibbs & Bruns lawyers annually donate hundreds of pro bono hours.  In 2009, these matters ranged from pro bono representations of the City of Houston and the Sierra Club in environmental and anti-pollution litigation matters to civil rights, municipal land use, and family law matters.

The second annual Harris County Bench Bar Pro Bono Award ceremony took place in the Ceremonial Courtroom of the Harris County Civil Courthouse.  In recognition of the award, Gibbs & Bruns will be included on a special permanent plaque display in the lobbies of the Harris County Civil, Criminal, Family, and Juvenile courthouses.
